You Know More Than You Think…Use Your Online Skills To Make Money Offline Today!
Well, it’s been a while since my last post. The good news is that is because I have been keeping myself busy! You move somewhere sunny and people assume you spend all day lying around on the beach. It’s not true…I only spend half of them doing that, ha ha. If only that was true.
When trying to make money online, it is very easy to believe that the only world that exists is the one on the screen in front of us, LOL. We forget that there is a whole world of opportunities around us which we can take advantage of to increase our income. I have only come to realise this myself since moving to Spain.
As I’m constantly meeting new people the question, “what do you do then Mark?” is one I’m asked on an almost daily basis. Yes, that dreaded question when we try to explain what internet marketing actually is! Well they say practice makes perfect and after many attempts, I’m actually able to answer that question in a coherent fashion LOL.
Why is it that when you try to explain internet marketing in terms “making money online” the wrong impression always seems to be given? Or is that just me?
However, talk in terms of seo, traffic generation, website design and e-mail marketing and you receive a completely different response. They are fascinated! This is where the opportunity presents itself.
Nearly everyone you speak to will present one of two opportunities for you to not only to make money but more importantly, for them to benefit. They will either have a skill or profession that can be utilised to make an information product or they will be in need of your marketing expertise for their website or business. Believe me, you do not need to sell your services they sell themselves.
You may think that you do not have enough experience or skills to offer your marketing services for payment. I can assure you that you do. Even if you’ve only been involved in internet marketing for a matter of months you will have enough knowledge to greatly improve business owners profits. It is not until you actually start explaining how you could help someone that you realise just how much you really do know.
One of the biggest problems in mastering internet marketing is the steep learning curve and the many different skills you need to learn. If you have spent any time at all around internet marketing I bet you know a little, at the very least, about traffic generation, website building, social media, e-mail marketing, article marketing, search engine optimization and pay per click marketing. Whatever knowledge you do possess in these areas, I guarantee that it is enough to make an impact on an offline businesses profits.
This is a win-win situation for both of you. The business owner is going to be receiving expert marketing advice at a reasonable cost from you and you’re going to get paid continue your education in internet marketing. So basically, you will be getting paid to improve your skills at marketing services/products online. That’s a pretty sweet deal if you ask me!
I now have three clients that I am working with on their websites/business and have a meeting next week with some web designers with a view to us cross promoting our services. All this has come from a conversation with just one person who I initially was talking to about creating an information product. This just goes to show how stepping away from your computer and spending some time making people aware of what it is you actually do, can lead to a nice income boost.
This does not mean that you have to spend all your time working on your clients websites. I spend an average of 1 to 2 hours per week on each client and to be honest, every task that I perform could easily and cheaply be outsourced. The reason I do it myself is so that I increase my knowledge and skills in these areas. If I choose to expand this side of my business, I would obviously need to outsource at some point.
I’m not suggesting that this should replace your own online activities but you really should consider this as another income stream. Let’s face it, we have all spent a small fortune buying information products to learn these skills. Well here is a chance to recoup and profit from that investment and also greatly benefit others in the process.
If you still have any doubts in your abilities to do this just sit down with a friend and explain to them how you would market a product online. Two things will happen… your friend will no longer think you’re just “playing” on your PC (lol) and you will realise just how much marketing expertise you really have. That is expertise that can easily be converted into dollars!
If you decide to give this a go and you need some advice, just leave a comment below and I will do my best to help you
To your success,
Mark

Hi Mark,
This is so true. My sister has had great success with marketing and sales (offline), but when I started explaining what I’ve been doing online and what all goes into it she was totally amazed. Even though I’m still a total newbie internet marketer, it made me feel pretty good to know what I was talking about. Of course, I have so much more to learn.
So how do you go about approaching business’s offline?
Thanks, Heidi

Hi Heidi,
So true, the learning never stops
My sister is also a succcesful offline marketer and runs campaigns for some major companies. As you point out though, even with that level of marketing experience she is pretty clueless about online marketing.
Many of the principles are the same of course it’s just the application that differs.
It’s good to pick the brains of those involved in offline marketing as they can give you great ideas to adopt online.
The clients I have all approached me which is great! All through word of mouth. I may ramp things up and go for more but I have a few online projects I want to put in place first.
All the best
Mark
Hi,Mark,it’s really great post!
All of us know a little bit here, a little bit there and as a result, our earnings leave us wishing for much more. Nowadays there is so much buzz about outsourcing. Sometimes it can create a lot of additional problems due to the low quality of the job produced. Everything should go through your thorough control.

I can relate, I was approached by a mid-sized company to develop there website. When I talked to them, they were extremely impressed and offered me a job on the spot, which i refused as i didn’t ‘want’ a j.o.b. The opportunity is there! just find it!

Mark,
That was a very good post about increasing your income by working with offline businesses.
I know I personally have been given an offer to do work placing posts on someone’s website and get paid a good amount for it. The details are yet to be finalized, but it is definitely in the works.
My name is Cheryl Jones and I am one of Mark Terrell’s students. He has asked me to check out some blogs to build traffic and learn from other people’s blogs.
I’d really appreciate it if you would visit my blog and add a comment and tell me what you think.
Hoping to meet you there soon.

I’m a retired media publicist with 14 years of online experience and when I used to tell people I was an Internet Publicist they thought I designed web pages. Not quite. So I started saying Online Media Publicist and they look at me with this huge question mark looming over their heads. Now I’m retired and blog, so I say I “Niche Blog”. LOL…those return looks are even more funny. I should have stuck with Publicist.
We online people are our own breed in our own world. I kind of love that. Now I teach classes in the real world on how to become one of us.
Loved your article. Thanks so much.
