I have had a couple of questions about adding a confirmation page/link to your profit pulling platform. It is quite important that you have something in place. This will ensure subscribers have to confirm their email address BEFORE getting their hands on the ebook.  The first couple of people who entered their details on my squeeze page downloaded the ebook but didn’t verify their subscription, so their email address is not on my list.

To stop this from happening I created a confirmation page and uploaded it to the domain. Now when people enter their email address they are directed to this page:

Sorry, I know the picture is not very clear. The page thanks them for entering their details and tells them the steps they will need to take to download the ebook, i.e. confirm their email address.

When they receive the email from aweber asking them to confirm the email address, the link they click takes them to the download page.

It isn’t necessary to upload a confirmation page, you can achieve the same result using just using aweber.

Here is the simplest way to do it:

1. Log into aweber and open the web form you created for the squeeze page.

2. In the ‘thank you page’ box, instead of entering the URL for the download page, re-insert the default URL which is :

http://www.aweber.com/form/thankyou_vo.html

3. Now, go to the list settings tab and click on verified opt in. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see the ‘confirmation success page’ box. Enter the URL for your ebook download page here. You can also edit the confirmation email above this box.

That is all you need to do, now subscribers won’t reach the download page until they have confirmed their email address and on your list :)

Personally, I think it looks more professional if subscribers are taken to a custom confirmation page, rather than the standard aweber page.

I had asked Alex about this on the module 2 q&a and I know it’s something he wants to add to the profit pulling platform.

I am going to email him and attach my confirmation page to ask if he is happy with it. If he his, I will then make it available to everyone who wants to upload it.

It would be good to get an idea of how many people would be interested in having the confirmation page. If you would like to add it to your website, please leave a comment below and I will get back to you.

I have found another great plugin for your blog that will help you to build your subscriber list faster. I was going to type all the details here, but following on from my previous post, I decided to take a trip even further outside my comfort zone!

So I have made a video with Camtasia showing you where to get this plugin and how to install it.

I did think twice about using the video. It’s ok but I know I can do much better. But hey, I’m enjoying the whole failing forward concept so here it is. I even put it on youtube, brave I know! LOL :)

You can download the plugin here

Webinar number 3 of the Alex Jeffreys coaching tonight, so see you all there :)

I did it. I made a video. Not a big deal I know but a new achievment for me. After having it in the back of mind for the past day or so, number one on today’s to do list was get a video on youtube.

I have never used ms powerpoint or camtasia before and never uploaded a video to youtube.

I’m really starting to see the power of ‘fail forward fast’. In the past I would have spent a long time over this, trying to get every detail right. I probably would have spent a day playing around with powerpoint and another with camtasia before I even started on the video.

But now, using the planning process and mindset that Alex is installing in all of us, I just got on with it.

It’s a shame but true, that the biggest constraint holding us back from success is ourselves. Stepping outside your comfort zone is never easy but it’s also never as hard as you think. This whole journey we are on is a massive learning curve and is great to see everyone improving on a daily basis.

So whatever it is you have been meaning to do or to try, just go for it. You will be pleased you did.

Anyway, on to my masterpiece. LOL!

It’s short, it’s basic and it’s not going to have Steven Spielberg knocking on my door but more importantly it’s a step forward.

The next one will be better as will the one after that.

So what’s next outside the comfort zone for you?

Here is the video. No need to grab the popcorn. It’s less than a minute long :)

p.s. a big thanks to Nigel for his help! He has a new video also so check out his blog.
