Help Needed! I Have Started My eBook, What Do You Want To See In It?
I have finally got off by backside and started to write my ebook. Fired up after my productive down time (see previous post) I got stuck into writing my first ebook.
It’s something I have wanted to do for the past couple of weeks but just couldn’t decide on the topic. Well if you want anymore proof that the answers will come from your blog, this ebook is it.
Everyday I receive questions from students, on this blog and by email, about how to make changes to their blogs. I have answered the same questions so many times that the topic for my ebook was in front of me the whole time! lol
The ebook will cover wordpress settings, changing the appearance, seo, widgets, plugins, adding adsense, adding aweber, adding ads and a few more areas.
Is there anything I have missed or you would like to know?
Any help or request for further topics would really be appreciated, so if you can think of anything, please leave a comment on this post.
I hope to have the ebook ready in the next few days. I haven’t ordered any graphics yet, so I put some together myself, what do you think?

My problem with my blog has been getting plugins to work, I upload them to my website but they do not appear in the list of plugins available any suggestions?
Themes appear OK so I can select which one I want.

Boy is this e-book of yours going to be loaded with content! 61 comments already!!! I mean to say… It may well be that you actually have enough information to develop more than one e-book.
Now, what I would really love to know is how on earth do I approve a comment and then respond to it so that when reading through my threads it goes ‘comment’, ‘response’, ‘comment’ ‘response’.
I don’t know whether it is just the theme of my blog or whether it is me, but what I have noticed is when I respond to a comment, it simply keeps adding ‘admin’, ‘admin’, ‘admin’, instead of ‘comment’, response’.
It really annoys me because to my way of thinking it intereferes with the flow the posts.
Anyway, I wish you the absolute best of success Mark. I just know you are going to do well becuase you are very clever.

Hey Mark,
I think your ecover graphics look Great! I wouldn’t change a thing. I haven’t read all the comments here because I have to run so if I repeat a suggestion please excuse me.
Step-by-Step instructions on which plugin and how to use it to backup and restore your Wordpress blog would be nice. In fact I just did a backup last week just before we got whacked with this ice huge storm.
A follow-up to this could be how to upgrade to the latest version of Wordpress(2.7). This can be a scary thing depending how much you’ve done to your blog. I take extra precautions in backing up because I’ve modified almost every PHP file in my Theme. I just do a complete manual copy of all three major folders wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes.
And one last thing, this one I’m interested in because I’m having trouble doing it and that’s putting flash video (.swf)file extension in a post. I’m not talking about embedding a YouTube video as that’s very easy to do.
I did get a video to work last week but it’s not quite the way I want it. But if I get it right, and that’s a big if, I will make a video on how I did it and you can just copy what I did and put it in your book. Believe me I have no problem with you copying it exactly if it helps any of our fellow students.

Sorry I haven’t stopped by here sooner. I’ve took a bit of a vacation from blogging this weekend. I’ve written a post at my blog detailing what I did and some revelations that I had also.
The graphics are great and I’m sure as anything that the content that you have for it is top notch also. I haven’t started writing, but with all you guys off and running…You, Garry Parkes, and Gary Simpson writing and creating away, I have to get off my ass and start plugging away at my keyboard chronicling the steps needed to take to even think of being a success online.
I like Gary’s idea of creating volumes as well.

I have a problem understand RSS on the blog. When I open my blog there is a link to it in the url bar. Who put that there? What does it do?
If I click on an RSS link on another site I get a chance to bookmark it. What does this do. Where does it go? Where do I see the RSS feed from a blog - on my desktop?
Sounds like it’s going to be a BIG book!

I got your question on my blog about your ebook and the only things I can think of … maybe because it’s something I still don’t know how to do and need help with … is adding RSS and adding a Subscribe feature. If you have the answers or can direct me on my two questions above, I would greatly appreciate it. I also need to know how to make a link from a word at the top of a page to an area further down the page. That’s for my Cool Tools page which is filling up nicely.
I wouldn’t pay for any graphics. Your cover is amazing! Looks like you’re on the fast track, my friend.

I am so sorry (for myself really!) that I haven’t had the tim to go around more often to everyones blogs and read all the very interesting posts like this one before.
Your ebook will be very helpful to me. I have several questions and feel very often too embarassed about asking around thinking that everyone must be as crazy buzy as I am and don’t want to bother you guys. I know I need to shift paradigmes here, big time.
Meanwhile I am looking forward for your book to be ready if it’s not already..
I was going over some of the comments but you have soooo many here and I am really short on time. In case no one else asked; are you going to cover how to upload pictures as well? and how to upload the opt-ins. I don’t like how intrusive mine is on the very top of the blog. It’s Lesley back again. I have been attempting to tackle the setting of of the PPP in the last hours.
Boy, do I need your book now! Since it is not available yet, (and I want one of the first copies hot off the press!!)I have some burning questions coming to mind.
I have a blog address that is http://www.calmprofits.com. I forwarded my name domain to http://www.lesleymorgan.com to that site, so either will land on my blog. Then I bought a domain I thought I would use for the PPP.
As I look at other student’s sites, and yours, I see links to the PPP from/to the blogs in sidebars, headers, footers, pop overs.
Question is, do I set up the PPP to my original blog, or use a separate domain, and what are the pros and cons of each from a strategic point of view? (It appears there is some confusion here due the posting on Garry’s blog of student’s posting PPP links in others blogs.)
I do need assistance as I do not know what to enter, where to start, PPP set-up as far a the domain subject??
If you, or anyone with the technical skills in our group is doing outsourcing for the PPP, would love to chat on the subject.

Interesting, my maiden name was Austin and I have a brother Marcus. Although I am in Florida, my family are in England!
I loved your video about adding the plug-in, it is on my list to add to my blog. I agree with so many of the suggestions above, as a complete newbie to blogging. I do not know how to add names to my blog roll, or do the hyperlinking in the text, so that it will link back to a particular website, blog etc.
