Do You Want To Add A Confirmation Page To Your Profit Pulling Platform?
I have had a couple of questions about adding a confirmation page/link to your profit pulling platform. It is quite important that you have something in place. This will ensure subscribers have to confirm their email address BEFORE getting their hands on the ebook. The first couple of people who entered their details on my squeeze page downloaded the ebook but didn’t verify their subscription, so their email address is not on my list.
To stop this from happening I created a confirmation page and uploaded it to the domain. Now when people enter their email address they are directed to this page:
Sorry, I know the picture is not very clear. The page thanks them for entering their details and tells them the steps they will need to take to download the ebook, i.e. confirm their email address.
When they receive the email from aweber asking them to confirm the email address, the link they click takes them to the download page.
It isn’t necessary to upload a confirmation page, you can achieve the same result using just using aweber.
Here is the simplest way to do it:
1. Log into aweber and open the web form you created for the squeeze page.
2. In the ‘thank you page’ box, instead of entering the URL for the download page, re-insert the default URL which is :
http://www.aweber.com/form/thankyou_vo.html
3. Now, go to the list settings tab and click on verified opt in. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see the ‘confirmation success page’ box. Enter the URL for your ebook download page here. You can also edit the confirmation email above this box.
That is all you need to do, now subscribers won’t reach the download page until they have confirmed their email address and on your list
Personally, I think it looks more professional if subscribers are taken to a custom confirmation page, rather than the standard aweber page.
I had asked Alex about this on the module 2 q&a and I know it’s something he wants to add to the profit pulling platform.
I am going to email him and attach my confirmation page to ask if he is happy with it. If he his, I will then make it available to everyone who wants to upload it.
It would be good to get an idea of how many people would be interested in having the confirmation page. If you would like to add it to your website, please leave a comment below and I will get back to you.

Hey Mark,
Great post and I;m sure it will be really uyseful for those who have simply uploaded the website and not bothered to do some testing.
Oh btw, you know the paid download video page with the 21 videos, I had a check of them last night after trialing to test if paypal was working. I noticed that when I was directed to the 21 videos page, it wasn’t very clear what people had to do so I decided to put a text link saying - *please click on images to load video.*
It’s nothing major, but I thought I let you know as well.
Best Regards and all the best
Nigel
Cheers Nigel, good point, I will take a look at it. Will be over to your blog later
Thanks Mark,
Will try to do it now. I have created very similar page to yours the other day.

Hi Mark
Thanks for visiting and your kind comments, also thanks for the guide on google analyticts it was a great help.
Can you tell me how I can get comments to show up on my page? they come into admin for approval but do not show anywhere.
Cheers
Al
http://www.alvaughan.com
Hi Al,
You have it set up that you must approve comments before they appear.
Log in to your wp admin area and click settings in the top right hand corner. Then click ‘discussion’.
Scroll down and you will see ‘before comment appears’ and three tick boxes. Untick the ‘an administrator must always approve the comment’ and save settings.
To approve comments you have already had, click the comments tab (just under your domain name in wp admin) and you can approve them there.
Hope that helps,
Mark
Great blog and posts and I am so glad to be here, and as a fellow student of Alex, I now have you on my blogroll. Please comment on my blog to, as I only got it up yesterday!!
Thanks!

Hi Mark,
I saw your comment on Garry’s blog about your new video (very cool). And your site is well put together. I want your opinion about posting the students on the blogroll. Why do some students post it and others don’t? I don’t even know how to do it yet, but I see you have it on your blog.
Mrs Renee Olson

Hi Renee,
Thanks for visiting my blog and for you kind words
I’m not sure why some students haven’t added a blog roll but it is probably for the same reason as you. What I can tell you is that is essential. The more we are all linking to each others blogs the more traffic we will all get.
To add a link to your blogroll, login to you wp admin area. Click the ‘manage’ tab and then ‘links’.
You will see ‘Manage Links (add new). Click add new and then you can enter the URL, name and description of who you want to add.
When you have done that scroll done to where it says advanced options and click on ‘_blank’. This means when someone clicks on the link it will open in a new window.
You may need to add the blogroll to you sidebar so now click the ‘design’ tab and then widgets. On the left of the page you will see a list of available widgets. You will see one called ‘links’. Click the ‘add’ link and the save.
I just went to your blog to leave a comment but it wont let me. In the wp admin area, click ’settings’ in the far right corner and the ‘discussion’. Check what the settings are as it looks like you are the only one who can leave a comment
Let me know if you need more help,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the info. I hope I’ll be able to do it.
You sound as if you know a lot about websites, etc. so could you check out my blog at http://www.jeansmenopausalmoment.com/blog and tell me how to get rid of the Meta tags on my site? I know it’s something to do with the theme editor, but I can’t see where it is.
Thanks

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the advice. Managed to remove the Meta bit BUT decided to move the calendar over to the other side. I now have two calendars and can’t see how to remove the one on the right. If I look in the widget section in both side panels 1 and 2, the calendar is listed but there’s nothing next to it to say either add or edit.
What do I do, please?
Your comment is up now. I have set up the blog so I have to approve comments first. That may change though!
Thanks
Jean
Jean’s last blog post..Buying On The Internet And Easy Fundraising
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your comments, I don’t have a video ready at the moment but will try and sort one out. If scroll to the bottom of my blog and click on ‘CognoBlue WordPress Theme’ that will take you to the download page for the theme.
I will add you to my blogroll also
Hi Jean
If the calender is showing automatically then it must be written into the php file for the sidebar. You can go in and remove the code but you need to be careful you don’t delete anything else.
It would be unsual that it would be in both the left and right sidebar php files, so check both in the widgets section as you should be able to remove one there.
I would have to see the php file to tell you what to remove. If you like you can send it to me by email add I will take a look.
You would need to go to the design tab in wp admin and then theme editor. On the right will be a list of your theme files.
There will be a file for both the right and left sidebars, mine are called sidebar_r.php and sidebar_l.php.
When you click on them the code will appear in the test box on the left.
Click in that box and press CTRL A on your keyboard. That will highlight the whole text. Right click and copy that into a notepad file.
You can then send these to me by email as an attachment if you like.
Hope that helps
Mark
Thanks again Mark.
Have now got rid of the second calendar but have another question, please.
This blog was set up for me by wwKiosk.com as part of a hosting deal I had with them. Anyway I have a blogroll section which is presumably where I list all the students names and website addresses from Alex Jeffreys coaching course but I can’t see how to do it.
Under the blogroll section there are two items - themes and plugins but how do I get anything else in there? …OR am I supposed to create somewhere else?
I’ve looked in the meta for the Blogroll bit and can’t even see themes and plugins mentioned.
Also, do you have a complete list of students and their website URLs which would make it easier to add their details to a blogroll (I think!!!!)
As you can tell I’m pretty useless at this sort of thing. Still I can only get better (she says hopefully!)
Thanks
Jean

Hi Mark,
Great post mate. That looks very professional and your using Alex’s material anyway, so you’ve saved him some work. Well done.
You can definitely add me to the list, if you would be so kind.

Hi Jean,

Thanks
Mark
Hi Dean,
No problem. I will get the html file over to you asap.
Thanks
Mark
Mark,
I stumbled onto the same problem and ended up
doing my own confirmation page..like you, I did
NOT like Aweber’s tacky page.
Also, I redid a ‘Duplicate subscriber’ page..again
because Aweber had a REALLY horrendous landing page
that said ‘Prospect is already on your list’.. or
something equally as bad.
So I did up another landing page ion case people
‘forget’ and hit the subscribe link twice. I gently
inform them they have already subscribed and I
give them another shot at going to the report
landing page.
I have a copy of the HTML for anyone who wants it.
Regards,
Dan
Yes I think a confirmation page would be a great thing. It would also be nice if they were all uniform.
I have had this line of thought up till now on this subject. I believe that the people who go back and confirm after they already have product in hand are probably going to be better buyers and future customers than people who are forced into confirmation. Of course as Michael Cheney pointed out, if they are not on your list you have no chance to sell to them.
Who knows

Hi Mark,
I like the confirmation page and would love to have one like it! Thanks for the great ideas you come up with!

Hi Mark
Well I’ve managed to get my blog hosted on my own website now, but I am struggling with getting the ppp set up so although the confirmation page sounds a great idea I need to get the ppp up there first.
I followed Alex’s videos only to find at the end of the video he said that we didn’t need to put the files through Filezilla onto the testforvideo file.
When I check I can find the test for video pages, but I’d like to get a box on my front page, but not all the rest. (This seems to be what most people have.)
I’m not a technical person, though I want to find out how to do this so that I can do other things myself later.
I’m also trying to add some plugins but can’t manage that either, so any help will be much appreciated.
Please come over to my blog again if you have chance and see how I’m getting on! I’ve added you to my blogroll, please add me to yours.
Thanks Hilary.

Hi Mark,
The confirmation page looks like a great idea to me. I must have missed what you said during the q&a because I fretted for a while over the confirmation email vs the instant download with no confirmation shown in the members’ area instruction video. I’d like to use your page, too, if it’s OK.
I’m wrestling with the same problem as Al in that comments aren’t visible on my blog. I did approve mine, but they’re still not showing. Perhaps it’s something to do with my Theme?
I’ve also been wondering about the blogroll linking that the group is working on, vis a vis what some people say about Google turning its back on suspected link farms. I’m new to all this, of course, but are we beyond cybersuspicion in this regard?
Best regards,
James

Thanks much for the great info.
Just added the hover. And I was not verifying opt in but have turned it on now.
I still don’t quite understand why it is needed since they have already put their information in the system.
Is it just to be extra safe not to be accused of spamming or is there another reason I don’t realize.
Visit my blog and comment to get backlink, if you can.
