I had fun with this one! I read many blog posts, forums etc but again it all seemed so complicated. I only have a very basic understanding of Aweber. I can set up a list, do a web form and that’s about it. It’s something I really need to learn as we all know it is an essential part of us being a success.

So I had a web form done, had the html code but no idea where to put the code into the blog. I’m not going to bore you with my failed attempts, here is what I found to be the easiest way:

1. Go into your wordpress blog admin, then to design and finally widgets.
2. Add a text box widget to your sidebar
3. Open the text widget and paste the Aweber html code into the text box
4. Save and update

And that’s it! Again, I’m not saying that’s the best way but it is quick, easy and it works. All I need now is some subscribers!

Ok, so we are off and running!

You can read a bit about me and this blog in the about page here, but let me fill you in. My name is Mark Austin and for the past 3 months I have been doing my best to learn as much as possible about internet marketing. Why?

Because like many of you I want to build a successful business online to provide me with a full time income, and a lifestyle I can enjoy. Anything has got to be better than the 9-5 rat race, right?

I have learnt quite a lot in the past three months, due mainly to having a broken foot giving me plenty time on my hands, but don’t mind admitting as off today earnings = 0. Oh, well. The only way is up!

As well as what I have learnt I have been busy making all the mistakes that all budding internet marketer’s make. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about….

Going from one product to another, one ebook to the next. I suppose we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves, how else are we going to learn?

So what have I learnt?

Well apart from the technical stuff, the obvious I suppose:

There are no shortcut, overnight with little work ways to get wealthy. If there is a product out there I am yet to find it, but should you succeed in this quest, please let me know!

Whichever book or program you buy/own, the sell is probably the same. It revolves around the “working only 2hrs a day you could be earning 5,10,20 thousand dollars (match the figure to the relevant pitch) a week, fully automated” You are going to be living in some exotic location, checking your emails on the beach and basically congratulating yourself on how clever you are.

Now I’m not saying this isn’t possible, because it is. But the reality, as we are all aware of deep down, is that to obtain the level of incomes mentioned is going to take hard work, devotion and some investment.

As I said, nothing ground breaking there, just the obvious.

I still spend money of course, but hopefully in a more productive way. I have invested in some coaching and will write more about that soon. First I will dump what I have learnt in the past 3 months out of my brain and onto this blog.

Where to start?

With this blog is as good a place as any. A blog is something we are all going to use so I will spend the next couple of posts going through how I set this one up.
